After nearly five years since its launch, Rihanna is stepping down as the chief executive officer of her Savage x Fenty lingerie brand. In a statement to Vogue Business on June 22, the 35-year-old "Diamonds" singer expressed her pride in the brand's impact on the industry and revealed that this is just the beginning, with plans to expand in ways that resonate with consumers.
Rihanna, who is currently expecting her second child with partner ASAP Rocky, co-founded Savage x Fenty in 2018 with a group of investors, including LVMH. During the launch party in May 2018, the Oceans 8 star emphasized the importance of pushing boundaries while creating a line that women can relate to. She aimed to make people look and feel good, encouraging them to have fun exploring different styles, and highlighting that lingerie has no rules and can encompass both cuteness and edginess.
To succeed Rihanna as CEO, she has chosen Hillary Super, the former CEO of Anthropologie Group, with Super assuming the role starting on June 26. Super expressed her excitement to join the Savage x Fenty family, acknowledging the brand's significant influence in the lingerie and apparel industry, as well as its commitment to inclusivity and fearlessness.
While stepping down as CEO, Rihanna will continue to be involved with the brand in a leadership capacity as the executive chair. In addition to Savage x Fenty, the Barbados native also owns the beauty brand Fenty and expanded the Savage line last year by introducing an athleisure range.
On a personal note, Rihanna announced her second pregnancy during the halftime show of Super Bowl LVII in February. The news was a special moment for her, and she and ASAP Rocky wanted to share it in a memorable way. The couple welcomed their first child, son RZA, in May 2022 after dating for two years.
