Russell Simmons Offers a Vaguely Apologetic Tone to Children in Patronizing AF Message Following Accusations of Verbal Abuse!

Russell Simmons Breaks Silence Following Criticism from Ex-Wife and Daughters on Father's Day!

In case you missed it, Ming Lee Simmons alluded to a family conflict when she chose to honor her mother, Kimora Lee Simmons, on Father's Day with an Instagram tribute instead of her father. The co-founder of Def Jam Recordings, Russell Simmons, responded by posting two cryptic quotes on his Instagram Story.

However, his reaction didn't sit well with Kimora or his other daughter, Aoki Lee Simmons. Both of them used their platforms to call him out for alleged verbal abuse. The 20-year-old Aoki went live in a tearful video, detailing the ways in which Russell had mistreated her for years. She also shared several screenshots of text messages with her father, where she revealed that she had to cut off communication due to his alleged role in causing her extreme panic attacks. The model reposted the evidence on her own feed.

Russell and Kimora were married from 1998 to 2009 and have been involved in a legal battle. In 2021, Russell sued Kimora and her husband, Tim Leissner, accusing them of attempting to steal nearly $4 million worth of Celsius shares. Kimora denied the allegations. It seems that things have remained very messy behind the scenes.

According to Aoki, Russell's behavior has changed in recent years, leading some around him to speculate that he may be dealing with a mental illness. However, he has refused to seek help.

So, what does Russell have to say about all this? Well, the 65-year-old took to Instagram on Monday, posting a photo of his daughters and sharing a somewhat half-hearted apology. However, many find the apology to be extremely passive-aggressive, suggesting that his daughters should just "smile and breathe" through the alleged hardships he's causing them. It's definitely not sitting well with Kimora, Ming, or Aoki, who are unlikely to be satisfied with this response.

While some fans are not thrilled about Russell continuing to address the issue publicly, others are still supporting him despite the accusations. Nonetheless, the majority of commenters are standing by the women and their statements, highlighting the lack of accountability in Russell's response.
